“Return of Saturn” 20th Anniversary
No Doubt – After No Doubts Big breakthough with “Tragic Kingdom”. No Doubt returned home in the Fall of 1997. After a 3 year period of touring. Started small and endeth with Big Venues.
In 1998 the start was made writing a new album.
“Tragic Kingdom” was based on breakup between Gwen Stefani and Tony Kanal.
Inspiration for the new album became refection and want a happy life with then current boyfriend Gavin Rossdale.
A Soundtrack song was released in May 1999 called “New”. It was maintrack for movie called “Go”.
Gwen Stefani was feeling not happy and the time and she expressed with a Pink colloured Hair. It was continuation from her Blue Hair during MTV Video Music Awards in 1998. But this Pink hair collour used from 1999 till 2000.
All the band member tryed their best to make the best music posible.
In the spring of 2000. No Doubt finally was ready to release a new album. 5 Year after the release of “Tragic Kingdom”. It was called “Return of Saturn”. The release dat was April 11, 2000.
The first single was released in January 2000 called “Ex-Girlfriend”. The single didn`t reached the Billboard Hot 100.
Second single “Simple Kind of Life” was released in June 2000. It peaked at #38 in the Billboard Hot 100.
Third Single “Bathwater” released in November 2000. The single failed to reach the Billboard Hot 100. It only peaked at #4 in Belgium.
Adrian Young made an appearance as Gwen Stefani in the video. A girlgroup called “Pussycat Dolls” was used a background dancers. In 2005 the Pussycat Dolls became famous worldwide with “Don`t Cha”.
In 2004 a Remix was released from “Bathwater”. As part of “Singles 1992-2003” Compilation album.
Gwen Stefani did a collaboration with Moby called “Southside” which was released in November 2000. This single became Gwen Stefani`s biggest success since “Tragic Kingdom”. It peaked at #14 in the Billboard Hot 100.
Parties during the “Return of Saturn” tour inspired “Rock Steady”. No Doubts fifth studio album which released a year later. This marked the return of succes of No Doubt.
